This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. SSD is Blue Origin’s advanced development arm dedicated to developing mission architectures, creating, and feeding new technologies into our existing offerings, building our next generation of leaders, and commercializing new platforms that fuel Blue Origin’s growth and further its mission. Our work scope is broad and deep, forging the path toward our vision of millions of people living and working in space.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be in a hands-on role onsite at our Los Angeles Facility with the Space Resources Program team. We develop and demonstrate In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) technologies for the Moon and beyond. We're seeking a hands-on mechanical engineer to engage in all phases of rapid product development, from conceptualization through design, implementation, integration, and environmental testing.
We value self-motivated people who can find practical solutions to abstract problems. We work in fast-paced cycles of design, analysis, and test to deliver solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of applicable work experience.
- Expertise in 3D CAD programs (Creo or similar), including GD&T.
- Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and testing of mechanical systems.
- Experience with thermal modeling, analysis, and design.
- Subsystem integration within highly integrated system-level designs.
- Experience with at least one of the following: high-temperature systems, high-temperature materials, high-current systems, or electrolysis.
- Knowledge of versioning tools (Git, Windchill or similar).
- Experience coordinating procurement with suppliers, partners, and vendors.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of related work experience.
- Worked in an agile development environment (“scrum cycles”).
- Developed and delivered space flight hardware.
- Experience in all stages of the product life cycle.
- Experience working with vacuum chamber testbeds.
- Experience (or interest) in lunar & planetary exploration.
- Experience (or interest) in robotics, automation, and controls.
