SUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSE: This position collaborates with the RN team to provide direct patient care both before and after surgery. This position functions within the RCW 18.360.050 scope of practice law.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Prepares patients for examination including obtaining vital signs.
  2. Practices standard precautions.
  3. Observes and reports patients' signs or symptoms.
  4. Administers eye drops and topical ointments under the direct supervision of a health care practitioner.
  5. Prepares patients for and assists with lasers and procedures including pressure checks.
  6. Communicates with leadership team daily to ensure efficient work environment to include communication regarding problems, questions, scheduling, creative ideas. 
  7. Ability to assist with patient transport. 
  8. Performs opening, closing and on call duties.
  9. Assists in patient education. 
  10. Record patient health history. 


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) from the State of Washington within 60 days of employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to learn other software programs as needed. 
  • Must be at least 18 and have a High School or General Education diploma (GED)

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous medical assistant experience

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, lift, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach, stoop/crouch, talk, and hear. Frequently required to sit. Occasionally required to climb or crawl. 
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move a minimum of 15 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; ability to clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
