About the role

The Vice President of Capacity Management will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to optimize the use of current data center capacity and identifying cost-effective opportunities for expansion. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the company meets growing customer demands, maintains operational efficiency, and aligns with corporate financial objectives. The incumbent will collaborate closely with engineering, sales, operations, and finance teams to balance capacity needs with business growth and profitability.

 

I.      RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Capacity Planning and Optimization

  • Lead the development of capacity planning strategies to ensure data center resources are utilized
  • Develop models to forecast future capacity needs based on market trends, sales pipelines, and customer demand.
  • Work with operations teams to ensure existing capacity is optimized to delay capital expenditures where

Expansion Strategy

  • Identify opportunities to add capacity in existing data centers through infrastructure upgrades, improved cooling and power utilization, or innovative design.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to evaluate technical solutions for cost-effective expansion.
  • Develop and manage relationships with vendors and partners to source equipment

and solutions for capacity expansion.

Cost Management

  • Evaluate the financial impact of capacity expansion plans and recommend cost­ effective approaches to meet growth targets.
  • Ensure capital expenditure projects remain within approved budgets and deliver ROI
  • Work with the procurement team to negotiate favorable terms for equipment, power, and other

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the sales team to understand customer pipeline and ensure adequate capacity planning to meet demand.
  • Collaborate with engineering and facilities teams to align on technical requirements for capacity
  • Work closely with finance to assess the profitability and feasibility of proposed expansion plans.

 

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Establish KPis and dashboards to monitor capacity utilization, power efficiency (PUE), and other relevant metrics.
  • Present regular updates to the executive team on the state of capacity, upcoming challenges, and proposed solutions.
  • Identify risks to capacity availability and recommend proactive measures to address

Leadership and Team Building

  • Build and lead a high-performing capacity management team, including hiring, mentoring, and talent development.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, and collaboration across

 

II.       MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or Master's) preferred.

 

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in capacity planning, operations, or infrastructure management, preferably within the data center or technology sector.
  • Proven experience in leading large-scale capacity expansion projects and driving cost optimization
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, network, and IT systems.

 

Skills

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term planning with immediate operational needs.
  • Deep knowledge of data center operations, facility management, and energy efficiency best practices.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to develop and present detailed ROI
