What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $121,000 - $141,000.00 We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work in the office 3 days a week and work from home or within the state of Colorado 2 days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

What You’ll Do

The DOTI Transportation Implementation Division is seeking a professional in the transportation industry to serve as a Senior Engineer within the Transportation Implementation Division which is comprised of three separate groups: Design, Construction, and Specialty Services.  This particular position will reside in the Construction group. The Transportation Implementation Division helps to deliver the City’s capital transportation program and carry out the Mayor’s goals outlined in the Denver Mobility Plan. Core functions of the Transportation Implementation Division include design and construction project management, program management, subject matter expertise, 3rd party coordination, contract oversight, One Build coordination, and more. The Construction group primarily manages construction contracts and transitioning newly completed facilities to City operations and maintenance teams.  Additionally, they play a critical role in the development of projects during planning and design by performing constructability reviews, field walks, and cost estimation.   Currently, the Construction Group manages approximately 30 active projects at a value of more than $100 million. The types of projects managed vary tremendously and are delivered through a wide variety of procurement strategies and delivery mechanisms.

Examples of work delivered through this Division include:

  • Mobility programs (e.g., bikes, pedestrian facilities, ITS & signals, transit infrastructure, etc.)
  • Safety initiatives (e.g., Vision Zero, Neighborhood Transportation Management Plans [NTMP], Safe Routes to School [SRTS], etc.)
  • Complete streets, multimodal projects, and pedestrian facilities
  • Large, complex projects (e.g., Monaco and Cherry Creek Bridge replacement, Colfax BRT, Jewell Evans Pedestrian bridge, etc.)
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) programs and regulatory projects
  • Ongoing citywide deferred maintenance
  • And more

The primary role of this position is to lead construction projects from the end of the design process through procurement, construction, and close out.  To do so requires coordination with other City departments, contractors, design consultants, community stakeholders, CDOT Local agency, and others.  Projects may contain funding from Elevate/RISE Denver Bonds,
