This position reports to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel of Payor Contracts. This teammate will serve as a vital member of DaVita’s Payor Contracting Legal team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Manage complex projects involving diverse stakeholders and tight deadlines;
- Draft, review, and negotiate plan and provider agreements and amendments;
- Ability and confidence to work on complex projects and negotiations;
- Actively participate in the development and implementation and revision of contract templates, playbooks, process and training designed to increase efficiency and decrease contract cycle times;
- Thoughtfully lead and collaborate throughout the contracting and legal review processes by analyzing significant business, financial, and legal risks;
- Develop and effectively articulate creative solutions and mitigation strategies for key negotiation points to achieve timely and beneficial results;
- Cultivate and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships, analyze and revise contract language, resolve issues, coordinate with legal and non-legal teammates, and communicate regularly with peers and leadership.
- Lead role in most matters (i.e. “1st chair”).
- Advisor and strategic partner to the business (an “ambassador/liaison” between business and JLD, more than a substantive expert).
- Assists in setting and achieving goals for lane.
- Assists in setting and achieving budget for lane.
- Leading one or more strategic initiatives/projects for JLD.
- Outside counsel management.
Qualifications:
- JD from an ABA accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction required with the ability to waive into Colorado, if needed.
- Subject matter expert in health law, healthcare contracts strongly preferred.
- Has had lead role in matters (i.e. “1st chair”).
- Approximately 10+ years’ relevant experience, in-house or senior counsel in law firm (or equivalent).
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
Key Skills:
- Provider-side payor contracting experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with value based contracting and risk contracting is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate persuasively both orally and in writing.
- Exceptional project management: ability to organize and lead multiple works streams.
- Proficient in analytical skills, including knowledge of Excel.
- Proven ability to “get stuff done” and liaise with cross-functional constituents.
