In Customer and Enterprise Solutions (C&ES) we are focused on delivering the desired customer experience for each of our customers by delivering for our hometowns, serving our planet, and leading with love. The C&ES Compliance and Risk team supports the entire organization with managing regulatory and legal compliance requirements, evaluating and overseeing risk, and ensuring follow through on corrective actions. The team provides an infrastructure that enables departments across the organization to conduct business in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards and appropriately understand and manage risk.
Position Summary
The C&ES Compliance and Risk team is seeking a Principal Strategic Analyst to support the compliance and risk infrastructure that enables C&ES co-workers to conduct business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In this role, you will develop regulatory strategies to influence and shape company, regulatory, and industry priorities with consideration of inputs from customer needs, industry direction, business impacts, and company vision.
The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office as needed based on business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $136,000
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and understand customer needs, risks, industry direction, business impacts, and opportunities to influence current and future regulatory and industry strategies and priorities
- Develop coordinated strategic direction within the functional area and company in line with regulatory and industry direction
- Monitor regulatory and policy issues that span across the functional area
- Provide recommendations and define tailored strategies to enhance regulatory implementation and compliance
- Coordinates with key internal stakeholders to facilitate compliance-related decision making
- Develop methodology or approach to translate strategic vision into program decisions and operational activities
- Manage projects and efforts to resolved policy ambiguity
- Prepare testimony, respond to data requests, and draft comments on regulatory publications and directives
- Evaluate policies, technologies, programs, data, customer needs, and industry direction to identify customer and company benefits to influence development of future strategies
- Develop and implement regulatory, legislative, external and internal policies and procedures for internal and external use
- Coordinate and communicate policy supporting development, implementation and compliance
- Interact and partner with key regulatory agencies, such as the CPUC and CEC, other utilities, industry groups, and key market players to influence policy and regulatory direction
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Sociology, Policy, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
- 8 years job-related experience
Desired:
- Masters Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in compliance and risk management
- Experience in the utility or highly regulated industry
- Has an understanding of PG&E business to maximize results and limit risks
- Ability to lead functional area initiatives of the highest complexity and impact
- Ability to present highly complex data and findings to diverse audiences including upper management and industry and regulatory stakeholders
- Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision
