Senior Category Developer - innovate our largest category and brand

Are you ready to make your experience count? Then we would like to offer you the chance to develop our bacon product category in our Tulip brand. And we will of course give you the freedom within our framework to choose your own methods and prioritize your own time.

Join us at our Innovation Center in Vejle where you will be able to enjoy top-notch facilities – which extend to our factories as well – and experienced, international colleagues.

”We already have a good strategy for the category as well as a solid, prioritized innovation pipeline, which is just waiting for you to develop it further,” says Kasper Juul Christensen, Senior Director, Europe Category Lead.

Join us in Category Development and Execution
Within this department, you will join our Innovation Center in Vejle and 9 other product developers. Moreover, you will get the management responsibility of one junior product developer at our Oldenburg bacon Innovation Center in Germany.

You can look forward to using our upgraded pilot plant with everything you need to make test products – alongside your international team, which is a great mix of different profiles. We find that a diverse team always gives us a lot of new perspectives in our innovation.

Product innovation from idea to initial production
New taste variants, new usage occasions, new packaging formats, you name it. Ideas for innovation are many for this category. And you will be responsible for the overall product innovation of our bacon category, including new developments and optimizations.

This will take you to our bacon plants in Oldenburg, Germany, once a week, and Haarlem in the Netherlands about once or twice a month. Moreover, you will work closely together with the factories, QA, Purchasing, external suppliers as well with your developer colleagues, Marketing and Sales. All to start up initiatives and ideas in projects for new products that support the strategy of bringing more value and scaling into the product range.

Specifically, you will:

  • Develop new products, test new process equipment and packaging as well as plan various tests and optimizations at our bacon factories
  • Make price calculations and come up with product proposals
  • Work on tasks for renewal and maintenance of both our brands and private label products
  • Optimize projects at our production units in Oldenburg and Haarlem
  • Be involved in machine equipment investment (CAPEX) projects to expand and improve the production efficiency and capability
  • Participate in customer presentations and tastings as well as initiatives around the category’s future innovation pipeline and prioritization.

You can run product development projects from start to finish
In this role, you will be required to identify the right development opportunities and pursue them with a range of stakeholders – from HQ to production floor. You are able to run the innovation projects to the finish line with limited supervision, and you understand how to prioritize and maneuver, even when meeting new and different working cultures at our factories. Finally, you:

  • Have a background as e.g. a chef, gastronomist, or butcher – perhaps with an education in food technology/science and application or in food safety
  • Have solid practical experience with product development from a similar position in a large FMCG company where a commercial mindset has been central
  • Perhaps have some project management or management experience
  • May have experience from production or a QA department in the FMCG sector
  • Are fluent in English.
