Pay Range: $92.96 - $108.45 - $127.12The Vascular Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) is an advanced practice provider who delivers comprehensive perioperative care to patients with vascular disease. Working in close collaboration with vascular surgeons and the multidisciplinary care team, the PA plays an integral role in patient assessment, surgical assisting, and longitudinal management. Core responsibilities include performing preoperative evaluations, first-assisting in open and endovascular procedures, coordinating postoperative care, and managing patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
The PA is expected to exercise a high degree of clinical judgment and autonomy while functioning within the scope of practice and institutional guidelines. This includes prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset are essential to ensure efficient office workflows, optimal surgical outcomes and patient and provider satisfaction.
Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:
Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
Completion of a surgical residency preferred.
Experience:
2 - 5 years of PA working experience preferred, but would consider motivated new grad.
Prior experience in wound care and/or minor office based procedures, like sclerotherapy, would be beneficial
Licenses/Certifications:
Must hold an active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA)
Must hold current national board certification (NCCPA) by first day of work and maintain.
Must hold an active and transferable DEA license to California as required by the clinical specialty.
Must be eligible for payer enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid.
Must hold current AHA BLS and ACLS as minimum requirement.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
General Clinical Duties
Collaborate with the provider team and support staff in the delivery of care and contributing to the overall patient experience
Perform clinical assessments and management services independently or in a shared visit model on new and established Vascular Surgery patients, including history and complete vascular physical exam, prescription writing and refills, referrals, etc.
Perform wound care, utilizing best available products and therapies
Perform minor procedures including sclerotherapy, removal of tunneled catheters and wound debridement
Comprehensive Perioperative management of patients including but not limited to:
Surgical assisting Coordination of care between patients, families, other providers, ancillary staff Patient and staff education Facilitate efficient patient through-put and workflow in the Perioperative setting, including arrangements for add-on cases
Rounding on patients in the hospitali
Participate in clinical research projects and/or provide staff education
Maintain vascular databases (VQI and any other that may be created)
Order, interpret and act upon tests, procedur
