Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The Ion® Endoluminal Clinical Applications Engineer (CAE) reports to the Manager of Clinical Applications Engineering. The Ion CAE plays a critical role in the adoption and long-term success of the Ion platform in expanding access to robotic minimally invasive care. This individual will be focused on resources, product development, and activities needed to build and support users and care teams as they develop. They will provide technical expertise on the system as applicable during clinical procedures, directly and indirectly through Ion Endoluminal clinical sales personnel. They will play a crucial role in transitioning strategic users from proficiency with the system and its use to long-term advocacy for the technology. Further, they will work with clinicians to provide insights and data to development partners for product and process improvements.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide procedural support to strategic Ion sites to promote safety and effective learning curve progression with new technology.
  • Collaborate with clinical sales to prioritize regional needs for advancing program and KOL development.
  • Provide expert clinical product and technical assistance and training to physicians and clinical staff on the effective use of Intuitive's Ion Endoluminal system and associated equipment during clinical procedures.
  • Identify key areas of concern for clinical users and collaborate with training,  development engineering, and design partners to evaluate and address them.
  • Build the technical and clinical expertise of the Ion Endoluminal sales team, both in a direct mentor capacity and through development of commercial learning programs
  • Drive collaboration and maintain consistent, open lines of communication across the assigned responsibilities with local sales teams
  • Identify, address, and broadly scale solutions to address barriers to long-term success of Ion in the clinical setting.
  • Stay current on company products instructions for use (IFU), best practices and technical troubleshooting, as well as relevant scientific clinical literature and new product information.

 

Qualifications

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering or in healthcare-based technical field
  • A minimum of 2 years of technical or clinical experience in healthcare
  • Self-starter who performs well with autonomy and can be flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Problem solver who can respond with urgency yet maintain composure and think critically in high pressure environments.  Ability to prioritize and appropriately respond to requests in a high-stress environment
  • Highly collaborative and works well in a team
  • Effective communication skills including oral, written and interpersonal. Strong situational awareness
  • Experience working with highly complex technical systems and/or working in a critical patient care setting with physicians and support staff
  • Ability to process large amounts of observed data and translate information into actionable insights
  • Desire to learn and build new skills, and use critical thinking to apply them accordlingly
  • Ability to travel up to 60%, located near a major airline hub, and abili
