Accountant

• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and oversee timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes.
• Ensure the accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses, providing detailed reports to management.
• Assist in the preparation and coordination of financial audits, ensuring all documentation is readily available.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet schedules and maintain comprehensive inventory records.
• Support the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer with journal entries, bank reconciliations, and the preparation of financial reports and budget comparison analyses.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant workplace policies, including the Employment Manual and gaming ordinances.
• Identify and investigate any accounting discrepancies or irregularities, reporting findings and recommendations to management.
• Document accounting procedures and uphold internal accounting standards to maintain accuracy and integrity.
• Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements within the Finance Division.

 

Qualifications & Education:

• Associate degree in accounting or finance required; high school diploma or GED with two (3) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting or finance is required. Preferred experience in gaming operation, but not required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Mohican Nation Gaming License.
• Successful completion of a Criminal Investigation Background Check (CIB).
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
• Pass a pre-employment screening.
• Availability to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills; familiarity with Great Plains software is a plus.
• Proven ability to maintain a satisfactory working record in previous employment.

 

Work Conditions:

• Frequent hand movements and repetitive motions, including grasping and handling objects.
• Frequent walking and standing, with occasional lifting and moving of items up to 30 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
• Nonsmoking environment.
• Work primarily performed in a casino setting with higher noise levels on the casino floor, transitioning to a low-noise, dust-free office environment.
