The Financial Partnerships team at Airwallex is dedicated to building and managing strategic relationships with key financial institutions and partners worldwide. We work to expand Airwallex’s network, enhance our product offerings, and drive mutual growth. What you’ll do
The Director of Financial Partnerships, Banking Partnerships & New Market Development will play a critical role in developing and delivering Airwallex’s financial infrastructure. This role involves executing end-to-end strategy, implementation, and executive relationship management across all banking and fintech relationships in the Americas, including with global partners. Leading a group of geographically diverse and seasoned regional experts, your goal is to ensure our financial services partner network is world-class. This role will directly report to the VP of Financial & Strategic Partnerships.
This role is based in San Francisco or New York City.
Responsibilities:
Intimately understand the Airwallex financial operating system products and services to ensure that the right partners are selected to support the delivery of our roadmap
Lead a team in the Americas expected to work with our partners in developing industry-leading solutions, solving problems for our customers that the industry has yet to solve
Manage the entire lifecycle of partnerships from strategy to signing through implementation and beyond
Analyze where to deploy resources and develop partnerships, investments, and/or acquisition strategies to drive long term strategic value
Identify acquisition targets, as well as manage negotiations, deal structuring, financial analysis, due diligence process and execution of acquisition deals, ensuring alignment with Airwallex’s strategic goals and regulatory needs
Work closely with licensing and legal teams to navigate the regulatory landscape to secure necessary approvals, and understand what’s required in targeted new geographies
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and leadership across the company, including Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering, Strategy, Finance, Operations and the CEO’s office – including in executing deals with new and existing partners, working operationally with partners, and ensuring seamless post-acquisition integration of acquired entities
Harness a strong executive network for building thought leadership in payments
Represent Airwallex as an executive spokesperson at events and in the media
Who you are
We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
At least 5 years of experience working in fintech/payments/corporate banking
Executive relationships with banks, fintechs and other financial partners in the Americas, and ideally globally
A strong product instinct, with the demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for leveraging partners’ and Airwallex’s existing and future products
Expertise in crafting and executing on thoughtful partnership and product strategies with banks, fintechs and other financial partners at scale
Robust analytical skills and data literacy, especially the ability to create and manage investment memos and financial models
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills allowing you to connect with people
