As the Director of Children’s Healthcare Services (DHS), you will oversee, develop, and implement healthcare and nutritional systems for Amego’s children’s programs. You will play a key role in training staff, maintaining quality assurance practices, and supporting adherence to employee and student health standards. In this role, you will help shape healthcare policies and procedures while understanding that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to our organization’s success.
Key Responsibilities
Building Relationships & Community Impact

Actively contribute to efforts that enhance the social, economic, cultural, health, and safety needs of the individuals Amego serves.

Collaborate with the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services and the Vice President of Children’s Services to ensure compliance with regulations, accreditation standards, and funding requirements.

Serve as a point of contact for medical issues during licensing reviews, residential openings, and admissions as needed.
Leadership, Administration, and Staff Development

Advance Amego’s mission by carrying out policies established by Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

Take a leadership role in strategic planning, developing and implementing objectives and action plans that align with Amego’s 3–5 year goals.

Work closely with the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services to develop accountability systems and monitor program quality while maintaining Amego’s person-centered service philosophy.

Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive medical training for designated employees, including required medication delegation and specialized medical needs training.

Maintain and track training records for all designated children’s division staff.

Provide supportive supervision to assigned RNs and LPNs, fostering a work environment where all staff feel valued, respected, and supported.
Healthcare and Clinical Responsibilities

Ensure comprehensive nursing assessments are completed for all children in school and residential settings.

Support nurses and program staff in ensuring children receive appropriate medical care and that all necessary information for assessments and treatment planning is communicated clearly.

Play an integral role in Amego’s new hire orientation and ongoing medical/health training for staff.

Collaborate with the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services to design, monitor, and refine healthcare policies and procedures as needed.

Participate in intake, discharge, ISP/IEP meetings, quarterly case reviews, and family/guardian meetings to support individualized care planning.
Licensing & Professional Requirements

Maintain active status as a Massachusetts School Health Medication Delegation RN, completing relevant trainings including “Medication Administration in a School Setting” and “Medication Administration in Schools: What School Nurse Managers Need to Know.”
Pay Range Based on Experience and Education.
Pay Range: $91,500/yr-$95,500/yr

Qualifications
- Must be a Registered Nurse in MA.
- Current license to practice in Massachusetts.
- At least five years of nursing experience preferred. Experience with severe population preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in managerial duties and systems.
- Effective communicator, with experience developing decision-making processes and as a facilitator.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing, nurturing and celebrating diversity within the organization for staff and individuals and belief that cultural competence drives quality.
