About the role

We are looking to hire a Senior Software Development Manager to lead the development of Amazon's large scale Vulnerability Management and Remediation (VMR) infrastructure. The VMR function is responsible for ensuring the discovery, assessment, communication, and remediation of vulnerabilities across Amazon. This role will lead the software engineering effort to help form strategy, execute on roadmaps, and support one of the largest vulnerability management programs in the world. You will be leading an engineering team that values software development best practices in building and owning mission critical security infrastructure with high standards of scalability, reliability, and performance. With your technical expertise, you will be guiding your team to solve security challenges at scale, working to protect the applications powering the most sophisticated e-commerce platform ever built. We value strong people management, cross-team collaboration, and program management skills.

Basic Qualifications


  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 6+ years of engineering team management experience
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
  • Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
  • Experience establishing metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or 15+ years of equivalent software development experience.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate between technical teams and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with creating & improving a variety of processes across product types & teams
  • 5 years of experience managing the building and deployment of information security solutions at scale.
  • Understanding of information security frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading teams in Vulnerability Management or adjacent disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions.
  • Strong executive communication skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of business and technical leadership.
