About the role
Position Summary
Acuren is currently recruiting for temporary Level II MT/PT/UTT Techs with 40HR Radiation Safety Training Certification & State or IRRSP for Turnaround/Outage/Project work across the US.
This position is part of our U.S. Workforce Deployment Team, which supports customer turnaround, outage, and project staffing needs across the country. Assignments vary in duration based on project requirements and business demand.
Responsibilities
- Perform Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT) inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, customer specifications, and written procedures.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate MT, PT, and UTT equipment to inspect piping, pressure vessels, tanks, structural steel, welds, and other industrial assets.
- Measure and document material thickness to evaluate corrosion, erosion, and remaining service life.
- Identify, evaluate, and accurately document discontinuities and inspection findings.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Verify equipment calibration and perform routine maintenance and function checks.
- Review inspection procedures, work packages, engineering drawings, and customer requirements before beginning work.
- Ensure all work is performed safely while following company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Communicate inspection findings effectively with supervisors, customers, and project teams.
- Support turnaround, outage, project, and maintenance activities at customer facilities.
- Assist with additional NDT methods as qualified and assigned.
- Maintain current certifications, training records, and required documentation.
- Participate in safety meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Travel to customer sites and work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and night shifts, as business needs require.
- Assist Radiographers with the setup and execution of industrial radiographic testing activities.
- Support the safe handling, setup, transportation, and storage of radiographic equipment and associated materials.
- Establish and maintain radiation-controlled areas, barricades, boundaries, and warning devices as directed.
- Assist with radiation surveys and monitoring activities in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain awareness of radiation safety requirements and follow all applicable safety procedures at all times.
- Assist with positioning radiographic equipment, film/digital imaging components, identification markers, and other testing materials.
- Support the Radiographer in preparing equipment and work areas before and after testing activities.
- Perform pre-use inspections of assigned equipment and immediately report damaged, defective, or unsafe equipment.
- Maintain required radiation monitoring devices and personal dosimetry as assigned.
- Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and site-specific safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with maintaining required documentation, equipment logs, and field records.
- Maintain equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Work effectively with Radiographers, NDT technicians, operations personnel, customers, and other team members.
- Participate in safety meetings, job safety analyses (JSAs/JHAs), pre-job briefings, and other required safety activities.
- Perform work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and customer specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 40-Hour Radiation Safety Training certification required.
- Current Level II MT, PT, and UTT certifications in accordance with the employer's Written Practice (SNT-TC-1A, CP-189, or NAS-410, as applicable).
- Demonstrated experience performing MT, PT, and ultrasonic thickness inspections in industrial environments.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain customer site access requirements.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and client-required drug and alcohol screenings.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, piping isometrics, weld symbols, and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate inspection results.
- Basic computer skills for inspection reporting and documentation.
