Power System Protection Specialist

As a Protection Specialist/Technician in Engineering Services, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.
As a Protection Specialist/Technician, a typical day might include the following:
Create detailed physical and/or electrical design drawings under the supervision of a technical lead.
Develop relay settings file and provide testing support for various applications
Provide engineering support to project technical leads, project managers, and customers,
Maintain an acceptable level of knowledge and expertise with SEL products and industry best practices to protect and automate electric power systems
Work on business development activities by reviewing and proposing design solutions that meet customer requirements
This job might be for you if:
Have an Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience/military school training Have an interest in electric power systems and protective relay applications
Are open to 25% travel
Want to gain experience with power transmission, distribution and/or generation systems
Are interested in expanding your knowledge by learning new skills and assuming new responsibilities to grow into the role of an independent engineer, lead, and/or quality assurance reviewer.

Salary Range Data
We anticipate filling this position as a Specialist II $66,500 - 104,000 per year. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
