Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Do you want to be a key leader for Mission Execution and Training? If so, we need you to act as a deputy for a cross-country team, leading development of training for a novel mission in Dulles. You will support your lead in Colorado Springs, and various trainers and operators for the mission, while working with key subject matter experts in Virginia.  In addition, you will aid in identifying NSS resource needs (people, tools, areas, support services) and working with stakeholders to address these needs.

What you will get to do:

  • Act as deputy for a team developing the curriculum for the ground software and operations of a dynamic classified mission within the space security domain of approximately 5 people
  • Be self-directed and able to envision the end state of the product and take initiative to drive product development to closure
  • Manage the training budget and FTE labor report as directed by the lead
  • Educate leads, operators, and officers on mission capability and tactics
  • Own developing and delivering training material to the end user; including the training content, management of staff developing and delivering training, as well as the scheduling of training events with the end user
  • Define the tasks to train the end user in mission planning (MP) and orbital analysis (OA) functions for a space security mission performing dynamic operations in the geosynchronous (GEO) orbital regime
  • Ability to capture core concepts and instructional needs from a large amount of technical data (ground and space hardware) and communicate technical concepts to an audience of non-subject matter experts with varying levels of space domain experience
  • Design a training approach for a growing constellation of heterogenous satellites with maturing automation for commanding & telemetry and mission planning.
  • Develop a training program that aligns with agile software development and delivery, while ensuring operators maintain certifications on the ground system and on-orbit system capabilities
  • Drive and maintain a focus on operator readiness for mission execution, with the ability to adapt the training program to evolving customer and end user requirements. Focus on mission understanding to "train the mission" not "train the tools“
  • Design the training products to include Software Overlay tools and advanced simulation training to provide Initial Qualification Training (IQT), Mission Qualification Training (MQT), and tactics development using the ground software
  • Interface and drive engagement directly with the end user to ensure the training program meets the standards defined by Air Force and Space Force guidance
  • Lead adoption of new approaches to legacy instructional training approaches, while ensuring that all instructional and certification requirements are met
  • Support in person activities in Colorado Springs, CO designed to equip a subset of the end user to serve as trainers. Additional support to in-person activities in Colorado Springs, CO, will be required
  • Assist in weekly engagements with the customer and end user on the status of the training program and own responses to customer actions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field with 8 year’s experience or Master’s Degree with 6 years experience
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current TS Clearance with SCI eligibility at time of application
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in RPO mission design, satellite ground software, distributed modeling & simulation
  • Experience training and leading operational space missions at a mission operations center
  • Experience in scripting languages
