Job Description
Turner & Townsend Heery are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager responsible with construction delivery experience for overseeing a number of innovative fit up and interior construction projects for a key education client.
*This is a hybrid role
Job Description:
- Medium to larger projects managing the interior portion with the project PM responsible for the architecture and construction.
- Quick test fits for smaller spaces and the design of faculty offices, lounge spaces, conference rooms, etc., with which we have guidelines on what can be selected.
- Technical capabilities would center around an ability to forecast methods of procedures to complete construction projects by dissecting projects and individual scopes of work necessary to complete the project to meet client expectations.
- Must be personable and display a go-getter attitude with an inherent ability to work independently with urgency while managing multiple small projects at a time.
- Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages.
- Financial management: Ensuring prompt client invoicing and utilizing the financial system to monitor a project’s financial status.
- Preparation of Project Plan, maintaining and updating the Plan as the project progresses
- Monitoring and applying performance management techniques.
- Managing the change control process.
- Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
- Managing budgets, scheduling and bids.
- Preparing formal project budget progress and other reports.
- Preparing project progress reports.
- Preparing a project schedule and monitoring performance of the supply chain as the project progresses.
- Monitoring contractual obligations of the supply chain as the project progresses.
- Setting up and managing a risk and opportunity management process.
- Quality Control – Ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Working to construct proposals for new work or variations for existing projects.
- Identifying opportunities to improve Project Management procedures, templates and products referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
- Identifying and ensuring that the appropriate line manager is aware of quality, safety, health and environment issues.
- Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilized throughout project.
- General line management responsibilities (where appropriate) are effectively discharged.
Qualifications
- Ability to manage interior fit up work.
- Good knowledge of FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment), building codes, product lines and FF&E installations.
- Ability to advise at a strategic level during the project conception stage, including providing advice on the different approaches that can be adopted in order to successfully achieve the client’s overall objectives.
- Great time management skills. Ensure that the project is managed to the right quality standards, completed efficiently and on time.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and cross-functional team members.
- Experienced working as an effective team member within the context of delivering a specific commission.
- Key information and data are effectively shared and appropriately retained.
Education/Experience:
- Construction project management experience and the ability to be highly effective in a client facing role.
- Understanding of Mechanical, Electrical and Plant (MEP) is preferred.
- College degree in Construction Management or a related field, and PMP certification.
- Membership in relevant professional organizations.
