Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Provide maintenance support and repairs to production machinery and facility for a 24 hr / 7 day manufacturing operation. Additionally, performs the duties of Facilities Support as required.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Production Support: Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance requests on the production floor. Train production technicians in the proper set-up and copy troubleshooting techniques. Provide training and assistance to production technicians as needed to help maximize production output and minimize downtime through the utilization of proper production techniques and handling practices. 30%

  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: Effectively diagnose mechanical and basic electrical problems in assigned area (facility, machinery, equipment, etc.) Make timely and accurate repairs, as necessary, during production Utilize illustrated parts breakdown manuals and operational manuals in the repair, modification, and maintenance of equipment. 30%
  • Preventative Maintenance: Inspect machinery for potential problems on a daily basis. Documents problems and schedules work/repairs as appropriate. Respond to all assigned maintenance work orders in a timely manner. Responsible for performing preventive maintenance (PM) activities in accordance with the preventive maintenance plan. These activities will be recorded using proper PM sheets. 30%
  • Housekeeping/Other: Perform housekeeping duties required of maintenance staff including work area clean-up, machine, and equipment clean-up, sweeping up after clean-up and various other general housekeeping duties as assigned. 5%
  • Administrative: Perform inventory control of parts and equipment used from inventory. Inform Supervisor of parts and equipment used from inventory. Record maintenance activities using the proper computer application or paperwork. Other duties as assigned. 5%

Qualifications

EDUCATION

•   High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)

•   Ability to speak and communicate effectively utilizing the English language preferred.

EXPERIENCE

•   1 year related mechanical experience.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES

•   Preferred Certifications/Licensures: (• Powered Industrial Truck Certification)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

•   Proficient in performing production equipment preventive maintenance. Able to diagnose equipment faults and malfunctions. Able to read and understand schematics/blueprints. Must demonstrate good time management skills.   Plans and organizes daily work flow. Ability to retain knowledge of procedures and processes and understand complex instructions and multi-step procedures.   Willingness to attend training classes to learn or enhance skills. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to organize work, people and materials. Intermediate written and verbal communications skills.  Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports. Service-oriented personality. Ability to work independently on nights and weekend shifts. Ability to work a 12-hour rotating work schedule with call-in and overtime duties.

COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS

Informs leaders and other technicians of pertinent information and communicates to Plant personnel, leadership and other departments as necessary.
Communicates with equipment operators to determine problems with equipment before breakdown and to determine if equipment adjustments or repairs are necessary.

DECISION MAKING

Often must make decisions in conjunction with department supervisors to shut down equipment, schedule repairs, request for service.

Equipment/Software Utilized

  • Basic Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook, and internet software.
