Your journey starts now—protect and innovate with MANTECH!MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Stafford, VA. This role centers on hands-on design, prototyping, and testing of components using additive manufacturing technologies. You will help develop, fabricate, and optimize solutions that support defense and national security objectives through cutting-edge production techniques.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Designing and modeling 3D-printable components using CAD tools, with a focus on manufacturability and performance
- Operating and maintaining additive manufacturing equipment across technologies such as FDM, SLA, SLS, or metal AM
- Preparing digital files for printing, including slicing, support generation, and platform setup
- Conducting post-processing techniques including part cleaning, curing, support removal, and dimensional verification
- Collaborating with engineering teams to prototype and iterate functional parts in support of defense systems
- Documenting build parameters, performance data, and design iterations to ensure repeatability and quality assurance
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience with industrial or desktop additive manufacturing platforms
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo)
- Understanding of material behavior and mechanical testing in relation to 3D printed parts
- Familiarity with slicing software and AM workflow optimization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a fast-paced technical environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) principles
- Knowledge of post-processing methods such as support removal, surface finishing, and thermal treatment
- Background in rapid prototyping or product development using AM
- Experience supporting engineering projects in defense, aerospace, or similar industries
Clearance Requirements:
- This role requires an active DoD Secret Clearance
Physical Requirements:
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets,
