The Simulation team delivers products that accelerate our autonomous vehicle development, testing, and deployment through specialized frameworks and tools.
As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on this team, you will be helping us replicate complex road situations in our simulated environments to improve our autonomous performance in the real world. Specifically, you will design and implement synthetic simulation frameworks and scalable APIs that validate AV behavior at large scale. You will also be responsible for building the infrastructure and orchestration involved in the development and release of an automated test and validation pipeline.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Build reliable and scalable simulator tools and frameworks to support AV software development.
Build simulation infrastructures and orchestration tools to scale up test executions and validation pipelines.
Build distributed APIs and microservices for telemetry, SDKs, and other simulation technologies.
Work closely with autonomous vehicle engineering and System Test Engineering to enable rapid development and model feedback
Maintain a high technical standard for code quality on the team, through architectural design and code reviews

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:
BS, MS or PhD in CS or equivalent real-world experience
8+ years C++ experience with demonstrated proficiency in C++14 and above
Experience developing modern 2D/3D simulation such as: high-performance math libraries, geometries, physics, and AI
Experience with ROS or other robot systems
Solid understanding of 2D and 3D math used in simulation or Robotics
Experience with containerized platforms (docker, kubernetes, etc.), and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and scalable backend APIs, microservices, Kubernetes.
Ability to communicate well across teams of developers and other staff
History of mentoring engineers in software development best practices
Expertise in gathering requirements and writing technical design documents
Experience implementing unit tests, evaluating code coverage, and developing key software development lifecycle methodologies
Bonus Points!
Experience building simulation tools for autonomous vehicles or other AI/Robotics applications
Experience with Bazel or similar build systems
Experience with performance profiling and optimization
Experience with software verification and validation
The salary range for this position is $194,200 - 285,500. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
