Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

As a member of Fred Hutch’s Marketing & Communications Department, the Senior Marketing Specialist will gather, analyze, synthesize and help promote key facts and information about the organization.
Successful candidates will have the tenacity of a journalist, organizational skills of a librarian, mindset of a marketer and the curiosity of a scientist. In this role, you will build relationships across our campus and clinics to uncover information and data that can be used to illustrate our unique research and care. You will maintain a collection of key figures and messages that can be used to develop content for our owned channels, social media content, marketing collateral, advertising and media outreach.
This role offers a hybrid of virtual and on-site work, with the expectation of being in the Seattle office approximately 2 days per week.
Responsibilities
Organizational and Information Management 60-70%
- Identify, validate, compile, distill and organize information that is used broadly by many parts of the organization
- Maintain a collection of key facts, figures and differentiators for internal and external audiences
- Develop supportable proof points for specific marketing and communications claims
- Verify claims made by internal stakeholders prior to publication
- Collaborate with marketing and communications team members to incorporate facts and figures into marketing, content, social media and storytelling
- Maintain website pages that showcase key organizational facts and information
- Support the development and maintenance of brand materials and collateral for a range of audiences
- of gathering and summarizing information about new faculty, providers and leadership to support external and internal communications
- Develop and maintain database insights on peers and competitors
- As part of the marketing team, assist with a variety of projects, events and initiatives as needed
Internal Communications: 20-30%
- Maintain Fred Hutch Intranet pages with key organizational facts and information
- Collaborate with and support internal and patient communications teams on initiatives, workgroups and other projects.
- Support executive communications and presentations
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study such as marketing, communications, library/information science or equivalent work experience.
- 3 years in a marketing, communications, information management or other relevant role. Strong research and reporting skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Solid proficiency in the use of both print and online resources.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within and across departments.
- Proficient with web content management systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
