About the Role
At Steer we are motivated by solving the complex problems that our US, Canadian, and international transportation infrastructure clients have. Our contributions help to not only improve the journeys that people make but also the places where we all live. Steer is at the forefront of developing powerful answers to complex problems through our research on data-driven behavioral change strategies, which enables us to provide an innovative approach to a variety of projects including airport and rail business plans as well as P3 toll road transactions.


As a global leader in providing advice on transportation projects, we are looking for an experienced consultant to join our growing North America data analysis practice. We are interested in candidates with technical experience and capability to:


• Manage and direct work streams and projects that require data collection using Stated Preference or choice modelling techniques
• Have a strong technical and market awareness in terms of the methods, survey software and statistical analysis platforms that can be used
• Peer review and/or quality assure the design of Stated Preference surveys and choice exercises
• Understand the technical level that is expected in the market
• Support and develop junior staff across this technical area
• Understand the realities of collecting real choice data
• Demonstrate a track record of being able write and communicate technical ideas to a range of audiences and for a variety of purposes
• Ideally have direct experience in transportation covering a range of research areas and their applications (e.g. evidence of mode choice modelling, willingness to pay, urban realm, and for investment/business case/policy making).

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of relevant experience with specific capabilities and client relationships within the transportation business in North America. Candidates that best fit this position will have assessed and shaped complex projects through working as a consultant or on the public-sector side.

Work Environment

All Steer employees seeking a full-time opportunity are non-exempt, and encouraged to spend 60% of their time either in office or on-site with clients. An employee’s typical work week consists of 40 hours. Hours, expectations, and exemption status will be determined for any applicant seeking a part-time opportunity.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have demonstratable experience in many of the points below:

• Excellent technical skills related to data analytics or technical analysis in the transportation sector;
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills;
• An interest in providing professional development or mentorship to colleagues;
• An ability to lead a geographically dispersed team across multiple Steer offices;
• A willingness to learn new things and extrapolate relevant experience from outside of North America as part of a differentiated offer;
• An existing right to work in the United States and/or Canada; and
