6B Medical is Carolina Medical Center’s unique medical observation nursing unit is specifically designed to help manage the behavioral health population in the acute care setting who are awaiting inpatient psychiatric transfers.
Our team works very closely with our emergency room partners, hospitalists, consulting psychiatric liaison providers, as well as our Behavioral Health Patient Placement partners to ensure our vulnerable population is quickly transitioned to a facility that offers specific services to meet their individual needs. With that said, our specialty is also unique in that we see a wide variety of patients in our setting that includes many diagnoses from addiction to Alzheimer’s, as well as brain injury, other traumas, and at times postpartum and maternity patients with mental illness.
