Location: This is a Washington D.C. area based position.
Summary:
As a member of the Dexcom Government Affairs team, you will be responsible for coordinating and working collaboratively across Dexcom to drive federal Government Affairs strategy, develop and articulate policy positions for Dexcom. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining key relationships with federal elected officials and work cross -functionally to understand key stakeholders work internally and their priorities. The Senior Manager of Federal Government Affairs is expected to have a working knowledge of federal legislative processes and will help educate and inform key internal stakeholders of legislative issues affecting Dexcom. The ideal candidate will have responsibility for monitoring legislation, coordination and contributing to Dexcom’s Federal Government Affairs strategy and objectives in alignment with long term business objectives. This individual will also have an understanding of and ability to craft policy impacting Dexcom business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports directly to Dexcom’s Sr. Director of Government Affairs, partnering closely with Dexcom’s government affairs, regulatory affairs and other functions to develop, and implement a government affairs and policy strategy that outline’s Dexcom’s views on appropriate regulation of health technology and related issues.
- Identify, develop, and manage strategic relationships with federal officials resulting in meaningful partnerships focused on patient benefit
- Monitor and assess federal policies and develop broad strategies/positions, options and recommendations to address potential business impacts
- Inform/educate appropriate stakeholders on policies at the federal level that may have an impact to Dexcom
- Engage with medical device industry trade associations on behalf of Dexcom (AdvaMed, MDMA, CTA) to have influence and advocate for Dexcom and its business imperatives.
- Analyze and anticipate changes to business and legislative environment federally, to include identifying trends and staying abreast of the external environment for issues and actions that could affect present and future business opportunities
Required Qualifications:
- Proven track record of successfully working in or with federal legislation and health care industry (preferably with medical technology)
- Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process at the federal, state, and international levels.
- Demonstrated experience working on complex policy issues, requiring external advocacy strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially regarding policy development, analysis, and advocacy
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with people of varied professional, cultural, and educational backgrounds
