Responsibilities

Northside Hospital’s rehabilitation residency is a directed postgraduate training program in rehabilitation in the assigned area of responsibility.  As part of the health care team, the resident develops and administers physical therapy programs and treatments for age groups defined by clinical competency for area of responsibility. Provides the highest quality of age-appropriate care for patients within the scope of practice and established standards for physical therapy. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. The duties of this position require patient and family education and the exercise of courtesy and patience in speaking with and assisting patients, families, medical personnel and others in order to provide quality customer service.

 

Additionally, the resident will complete curriculum requirements for purposes of advancing resident’s knowledge and ability to provide specialty care. The residency program provides mentoring and close supervision. The resident’s clinical experiences are closely directed and evaluated by the on-site practitioner-preceptor for continued development of a solid theoretical foundation for advanced practice. The resident will also prepare for examinations in order to receive certification in specialty area. Each residency cycle is approximately twelve months in duration as defined by specialty area.

Qualifications

  • Doctors Degree in Physical Therapy from an Accredited Program.
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist by the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Must be certified in cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for all age groups.
  • PREFERRED:

  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other government regulations.
  • Certification as an Emergency Responder or ATC Licensure (Sport Residency Only).
  • Work Hours:

    8:30am - 5:00pm
