JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our innovation software engineer will be responsible for architecting, designing, and building impressive digital experiences. In this role, the engineer will be tasked with providing thought leadership, technical innovations, custom solutions, emerging technology prototypes, and maximizing market outcomes for the organization. Extensive knowledge of micro service programming, data engineering, various web technologies, and cloud platforms will be required. They will provide technical consultation to senior management, business leaders, and technical staff. Above all else, this engineer must excel at learning from failure.
Innovation engineers should be able to understand changing business landscapes and processes, induce valuable hypotheses about important business problems to solve, and be able to quickly validate said hypotheses using software and creative processes. After product validation, they should be stewards for their applications and lead efforts to incorporate their products into the larger software ecosystem of our organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for strategic architecture plans, system design, and implementation standards.
- Collaborate with programs & projects to understand dependencies, anticipate risks, and identify opportunities.
- Provide governance and stewardship for future information technology planning.
- Develop custom applications that solve business needs on various platforms (web, desktop, mobile, etc.)
- Participate in all aspects of agile
- Aid your innovation colleagues in translating business requirements to technical requirements.
- Work with the development team to establish, communicate and implement coding and design standards and best practices.
- Collaborate and gains consensus across platforms to ensure best practices, enterprise standards, best of breed, quality, and solving of complex problems.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years software engineering experience.
- Proficient in a few object-oriented languages (.NET and JavaScript are preferred, but not required).
- Proficient at building and scaling full stack applications on cloud platforms (Azure is preferred).
- Experience with at least one single-page application framework.
- Experience with database management systems (MSSQL is preferred, but not required).
- Comfortable working with and implementing distributed systems and micro service architectures.
- Comfortable with at least one cloud platform. Azure is preferred.
- Experience with automated testing methodologies and tools.
- Experience in Agile methodologies and frameworks.
- Experience with DevOps tools like Ansible.
- A self-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to work with customers to build and formulate business requirements.
- Ability to take ownership of a project and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure the smooth, timely progression of a project.
- Responsive and alert to new learning opportunities, growth, and development of technical, interpersonal and business skills; able to recognize and address individual areas of improvement.
- Organized and able to prioritize tasks, responding effectively to competing needs and determine the most valuable thing to work on.
- Comfortable working in agile/scrum, but willing to throw out the play book, when necessary, to produce valuable proofs of concept.
- Passion for elevating their more junior engineering colleagues.
Salary: $185,000 - $300,000 annually
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $185,000 to $300,000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).
