Summary

Load Research is one of the primary departments at SRP that interface with the advanced metering infrastructure data stream. The high frequency data provided by the advanced meters is useful in planning customer programs, predicting customer demand and understanding customer preferences and trends in electricity usage. Current and future metering infrastructure require the high-level data management and analysis capabilities that are offered by Load Research Planning Technicians. These needs will continue to grow in the future as advanced distribution and load management concepts are put into practice.

What You'll Do

  • Customer meter data validation, editing and estimation.
  • Maintain and develop back-end databases for customer meter data.
  • Produce customer usage reports for internal and external clients.
  • Support Load Forecasting with research project support.
  • Numerous ad hoc services performed and offered to other departments in need of customer meter data expertise including analyses, study/pilot planning, data pulls, data validation and cleaning, data exposition.
  • Prepares technical reports and presentations for management.
  • Performs customized analysis and manages service requests for internal clients.
  • Manages large data sets in an organized manner with effective quality control and supporting documentation.
  • Interfaces with other internal groups on process improvements and resolving issues, including root cause analysis.
  • Occasional training of new staff and quality control of newer staff’s outputs.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Experience with data analytics and database management is strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Python, Power BI, Excel, SAS statistical software and SQL is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in the electric utility industry is preferred.

Experience

At job entry, placement will be determined by a review of college transcripts and related work experience.  A minimum of 6 years of related experience is required for the senior level.  Once placed into the job family, an employee may become eligible for promotion by demonstrating the ability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by their management and meeting experience requirements.
