Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician at Pentagon, you will be primarily focused on preventative and unscheduled maintenance of all facets of the facility, including the upkeep of the plant. This position requires a high degree of ownership and responsibility for managing labor and materials to assure tasks and projects are conducted and completed in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for acting upon unscheduled and/or urgent related situations throughout the plant to effectively keep the plant in safe, working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and utilize the computer-based Maintenance Management software to generate and track work orders, PM tasks, and spare parts inventory lists. Be familiar with and utilize features within the software to generate periodic reports for management review.
  • Understand and follow preventative maintenance procedures as assigned to the department to assure consistent and reliable operation of critical equipment, and effectively respond to unscheduled repair tasks in timely manners as to minimize undue impact to scheduled production.
  • Generate and maintain complete records of all maintenance activities including PM’s, scheduled, and unscheduled work orders.
  • Maintain the inventory of defined spare parts by periodically checking inventory levels and generating purchase order requests for needed items.
  • Be familiar with the standard supplier base to effectively define and locate appropriate spare or replacement parts from supplier catalogs.
  • Understand and be able to operate Waste Water management systems as back-up to the Waste Water Technician, following waste treatment procedures as directed by engineering to assure consistent and compliant storage, treatment, and discharge of all industrial wastes (liquids and solids), along with the generation and submittal of all associated records. Additionally, this position, when necessary, as back-up, will be responsible for the storage, treatment, and discharge of all industrial wastes in a manner as to not cause undue impact to production cycles.        
  • Effectively distribute, communicate and oversee special tasks to the Wastewater Tech and Lab Tech positions, if any. Additionally, this position is responsible for the supervision of supplemental staff occasionally assigned to special projects.
  • Able to understand and effectively complete work assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two plus year’s related experience and or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Technical certificate, associates degree in a related field, and/or experience in chemical plant maintenance preferred. At the discretion of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, parts of this requirement may be waived.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronics aptitude skills.
  • A thorough understanding of production plant requirements regarding generators, compressed air/gas systems, blowers / fans, pump and piping systems, chemical media delivery systems, basic hydraulics and fluid dynamics, and forklift / material handling equipment operation.
  • A thorough understanding of production operations and structure, as well as the ability to interpret queries and comments to succinctly create and act upon maintenance schedules that minimize impact to production efforts. 
  • A comprehensive understanding of production plant requirements with regards to filtration, compressed gases, heating / cooling systems, pumps, piping systems, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Willing and able to work non-production hours as necessary.
  • Must be able to multitask and work under stress
  • Must possess strong reading, communication, and comprehension abilities.
  • Ability to fill out log sheets, write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to accurately generate, edit, retrieve, and print word documents and data spreadsheets.
