Sr. Manager, Home Infusion Services

Summary

Client‑facing leadership role responsible for leading implementation, operational oversight, and business development activities for an infusion pharmacy operation. This position partners closely with hospital leadership and other key stakeholders to implement specialty medication programs while enhancing the patient continuum of care. The Senior Manager demonstrates strong leadership and a commitment to total quality management, customer satisfaction, and continuous performance improvement.

Managerial Responsibilities

• Oversee infusion business operations, including financial responsibility and accountability
• Manage P&L and financial performance, including expense control
• Maintain responsibility and accountability for all operational issues within the pharmacy
• Remain readily accessible to pharmacy staff
• Adhere to and support all departmental policies, procedures, and initiatives
• Participate in departmental long‑range planning
• Demonstrate leadership and commitment to total quality management and performance improvement
• Collaborate with hospital staff and providers to maximize census development
• Participate in home infusion accreditation activities
• Ensure pharmacy, nursing, and administrative staff complete all required training
• Ensure compliance with all USP standards
• Maintain, support, and oversee clinical, operational, and revenue cycle management staff, including the Pharmacist‑In‑Charge
• Support the managed care team in developing and negotiating payer contracts
• Interview candidates for open subordinate positions and make hiring decisions as needed
• Provide clear goals and ensure access to training, coaching, and ongoing feedback
• Ensure effective formal and informal performance management
• Conduct annual performance appraisals in accordance with Human Resources guidelines
• Correct behaviors and administer discipline when necessary
• Address escalated complaints and resolve issues
• Apply sound business process techniques and manage execution using key performance metrics and indicators
• Oversee relocations, remodels, new location openings, and site closures
• Participate in mid‑ to long‑range strategic business planning
• Perform duties in accordance with established SOPs and company core values
• Develop and mentor Pharmacists‑In‑Charge, managers, and staff to support professional growth and succession planning
• Ensure timely and effective implementation of new pharmacy programs and ongoing execution
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels and schedule temporary staff as needed
• Serve as a project manager to ensure the home infusion pharmacy is fully functional
• Support nursing partners in home infusion therapy accreditation efforts
• Perform other duties as assigned

 

Oversight of Pharmacy Employees and Facilities

• Serve as supervising pharmacist in the temporary absence of the Pharmacist‑In‑Charge
• Maintain responsibility for the safety and security of pharmacy facilities and operations
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and company policies
• Review and monitor dispensing incidents
• Maintain accountability for loss prevention activities, including investigation of unexplained losses
• Oversee and audit physical inventories

 

Business Development

• Set goals, strategies, and expectations to retain existing business and achieve growth objectives
• Oversee operational implementation of new business contracts, including third‑party, manual, and 340B programs

 

Education and Experience

Basic Qualifications

• PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy required
• Active Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing required
• Minimum of two (2) years of cumulative management or leadership experience in a home infusion pharmacy or hospital pharmacy setting required

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5) or more years of cumulative management or leadership experience in a home infusion pharmacy or hospital pharmacy setting preferred
• Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, Beacon, or home infusion pharmacy information systems preferred
