Senior Counsel - Financial Risk Solutions Legal

The Senior Counsel will be a critical member within Nationwide’s Office the Chief Legal Officer (OCLO) and will support various insurance regulatory matters and transactions involving financial insurance and risk transfer solutions for Nationwide’s Specialty Finance department. The successful candidate will have deep experience supporting complex transactions, including investment, M&A, capital markets and/or cross-border insurance and reinsurance transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to financial lines insurance products and related transactions.
- Provide counsel on insurance transactions, including drafting and negotiating insurance policies, financing agreements, collateral agreements, term sheets, NDAs, reinsurance agreements, and other ancillary agreements.
- Advise on compliance with relevant insurance laws, regulations, and standards.
- Manage and oversee cross-border insurance and reinsurance transactions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to support business objectives, including engagement of U.S., Bermudian, Cayman and European counsel, as necessary.
- Stay up to date on changes in insurance laws and regulations and advise the company accordingly.
- Assistance with claims handling matters and preparation for dispute resolution proceedings and negotiations, as needed.
