Job Description
The Senior HR Business Partner will be responsible for providing daily tactical and strategic support regarding people and organizational development strategies in support of Kayne Anderson Rudnick’s business objectives. This role will partner closely with KAR’s leadership as well as Virtus Investment Partners’ HR organization to carry out responsibilities within the following functional areas: talent acquisition, employee relations consultation, policy interpretation and application, performance and compensation management consultation; and talent management consultation.
We are seeking an experienced candidate who is well-versed in a wide range of human resource tasks and who can work independently, with minimal supervision. The ideal person is a self-starter, personable, well-organized, discrete, flexible, and enjoys the challenges of working with investment professionals in a fast-paced office environment. This role will be based onsite in our Los Angeles office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Responsible for partnering with the various business teams to support efforts related to performance management and employee relations.
- Execute DE&I strategies on behalf of KAR and work collaboratively with Virtus on firm-wide initiatives.
- Participates in new employee orientation to successfully onboard new hires.
- Partner with the Virtus HR team and KAR Leadership on compensation plan management including the design, documentation, and communication of compensation plan details. Participate in compensation benchmarking surveys, analyze results, and develop recommendations for salary administration.
- Network within the marketplace to understand competitive market practices and identify networking opportunities to enhance brand image and continued professional development.
- Drive learning and development for KAR and partner with Virtus for various workshop development curricula.
- Responsible for the coordination of HR-related RFP responses and reporting.
- Represent HR in Institutional sales, and client service due diligence-related meetings.
- Design and manage the College Rotation program in coordination with the Virtus learning and development team.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment.
- Work in conjunction with the Virtus talent acquisition team on talent pipelining and recruitment of candidates, ensuring that the company is attracting and retaining top talent.
- Leverage data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.
- Use insights to make informed recommendations to enhance the HR strategy.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all HR matters for KAR Employees.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or an equivalent field.
- At least 7-10 years of progressive HR experience in the financial services industry, such as buy-side asset management or private wealth management firms.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and inspire trust and confidence at all levels.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations with a focus on California employment law.
- The ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state-respective employment laws.
- Technical skills including advanced experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel along with the ability to create and deliver presentations.
- Strong experience working with HCM systems such as Workday or its equivalent.
- Professional certifications in HR (e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR, CIPD) are a plus.
