Alarm.com seeks a highly motivated self-starter to join our fast-paced product development environment as a team lead for our video department. The successful candidate will manage a group of approximately 3-5 software engineers while collaborating with small teams to design, prototype, and develop advanced solutions for camera integration, video streaming, and video analytics.

As a Software Team Lead, you'll join the video feature team dedicated to enhancing our video analytics offering by implementing innovative new features and refining our video monitoring solution to make it best in its class. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of technical areas using cutting-edge technologies and agile development methodologies. Projects will entail diversely skilled challenges, requiring strong multitasking skills, proactive communication, and a knack for self-learning essential for success in this role.

Your team will be spread across different locations and time zones within Alarm.com, requiring you to excel in communication and work independently on self-driven tasks. As part of your responsibilities, you'll manage a small team of three plus software engineers based in Denver, CO. Motivated and creative problem solvers will have the chance to influence future projects and make a significant impact on the team.

In this role, You Will

• Manage a small team of software engineers.
• Develop back-end and edge computing software for a wide variety of platforms and technologies.
• Engage in the research, evaluation, and application of new technologies and methodologies to solve challenging project goals.
• Take part in the entire project lifecycle, from requirements development to deployment.
• Work with cross functional teams to develop highly reliable software that runs at scale.

Essential Skills Required

• 8+ years of relevant professional software development experience (OOP, Databases, Web development, etc)
• 3+ years of experience as a people manager leading engineering teams
• Experience leading and mentoring other engineers
• Strong programming skills; C#, Java, and/or object-oriented programming.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, principles, and technologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Advantageous Skills

• Familiarity with image processing, video processing, and/or computer vision a plus.
• Experience with RTSP/RTP, WebRTC or other video streaming technologies

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience.
