As a Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as the whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts. By taking on this role, you will have a major impact on patient care by helping to ensure the safety and health of the patient.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM – 11:30PM, with weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Be responsible for the safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, equipment distribution and case cart management.
Perform case pull functions.
Demonstrate proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals while adhering to preventative maintenance schedules and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards during the decontamination process.
Scan, sort and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness.
Assemble, wrap and label instruments.
Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, assembly and high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentation in accordance with AAMI ST79 standards.
Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.
Perform recordkeeping functions, such as processing, sterilization and quality assurance.<
