Occupational Therapist

Assesses and treats patients referred for Occupational Therapy. Organizes and conducts Occupational Therapy programs to restore function, maximize independence, reduce pain, and prevent or correct disability.

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. 

 

EXPERIENCE: OUTPATIENT: Preferred Outpatient occupational therapy experience, which should include specialties in Hand Therapy/Orthopedics, Neurology, and/or Cognitive Behavioral Management. 

 

PREFERRED QUALITFICATIONS: 

This position will support the hand therapy practice/orthopedics, as well as treating patients with Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome, neurological conditions, and provide care for the bariatric population. 

1) Experience with treating the populations above

2) Masters or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy

3) Certification in Physical Agent Modalities

4) Advanced Specialty Certification, including, but not limited to: Hand Therapy, Physical Rehabilitation (BCPR), Environmental Modification (SCEM or SCEM-A), Low Vision (SCLV), Gerontology (BCG), OTR (Occupational Therapist Registered)

 

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Frequent stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting is required when moving patients and/or equipment during treatment. Due to the nature of the work, good interpersonal skills and sensitivity are necessary. Florida State licensure to practice Occupational Therapy.
