Lead Engineer (User Experience)

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to join team Duplo. The team focuses on the customer onboarding experience of Smarly.io customers. This includes the holistic customer experience across our platform as well as the onboarding journey from the first Aha-moments to becoming lifelong happy customers of Smartly.io. Team Duplo is also working with the Design Systems to ensure consistency across the product, enhancing the user experience and enabling engineers and designers to work efficiently. The Lead Engineer works in close collaboration with the Engineering Manager of the team to ensure technical excellence.

The team works within the Platform Functionality product group. The teams in the group are building a variety of functionality that are agnostic of our advertising platform integrations and work across them like campaign analytics, actionability, advertising automation and customer onboarding journey.

The team is front-end heavy, with React and TypeScript being the primary stack, but the tasks of the Lead Engineer include also understanding the backend. On the the backend, the favored stack at Smartly.io is Node.js in combination with TypeScript usually coupled with PostgreSQL and/or RabbitMQ.

As a Lead Engineer you will…

• Ensure that the technical quality always meets customer expectations
• Drive execution with hands-on coding
• Take responsibility in the planning, execution and release of complex technical projects that drive towards the architectural vision
• Lead the team towards the target architecture
• Participate in the engineering group’s technical council
• Be a technical leader within the group you work with to initiate, influence and drive technical tasks inside the team
• Mentor junior teammates

What we are looking for…

• You have a strong technical background, including 5+ years of experience with software engineering and designing large scale systems, including understanding the backend
• Strong track record in delivering projects
• You possess a deep understanding of how to translate product and business goals into tech
• A high bar for quality of code and quality of user experience
• Knowledge and willingness to master JavasScript, TypeScript and relevant web application development technologies 
• Experience with the complexities of deploying a web application to users across the world, including understanding the nuances of building JavaScript packages, browsers, and CDNs

2. Meeting the Team Lead: learn more about your future team.
3. Technical interviews: you take part in an interactive coding interview followed by a discussion around Systems Design and Architecture.
4. Final meeting: As the final interview we will have a short discussion with our VP of Engineering to learn more about the higher level goals and plans for the Group.
