Job Description

Nordstrom Analytical Platform (NAP) is a real-time, event-streaming-centric analytical platform that provides high-quality, pre-stitched 360 views of our customers, products, inventory, customer service, fulfillment, logistics and credit. The Insights Delivery Team delivers data and insights that enables Nordstrom data analysts, data scientists, leadership, store personnel and other business users to drive the critical Nordstrom customer experiences in a single place near real-time. 

On our team, you will own the design and development of highly scalable software applications, services, data pipelines and database solutions, apply scientific, mathematical and social principles, and deliver on the Nordstrom strategic visions. You will have various avenues to collaborate and influence several other platforms within Nordstrom Technology and have a companywide impact on both business and engineering. The ideal candidate is creative, customer-driven and has a passion for data engineering and products.

A day in the life… 

• Complete well-defined projects independently and understand how pieces of a project relate to each other to manage dependencies 

• Design, develop, and manage scalable Business Intelligence solutions, encompassing front-end visualizations and robust back-end data infrastructure, to cater to a broad user base and streamline ETL processes 

• Partner with key stakeholders to identify problems and collaboratively propose solutions. 

• Collaborate with other analysts to review code and learn from each other to constantly grow and learn to maximize impact within the broader team 

• Balance competing priorities to focus on the most impactful work, while navigating ambiguity to deliver value 

You own this if you have… 

• Quantitative degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or equivalent industry experience

• 2+ years of experience developing and deploying production-level SQL queries 

• 2+ years of experience with advanced BI visualization (e.g. Tableau, Looker, plotly, matplotlib) 

• Professional experience using R or Python in an analytics capacity 

• Experience analyzing data, drawing conclusions and making recommendations 

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. git) and adhering to coding standards 

• Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to troubleshoot, educate, and convey results to non-experts and experts alike 

• Ability to develop strong relationships with a multitude of teams and personnel
