Your Responsibilities
As a Engineer, SSL/CTL Hydraulics for John Deere Construction and Forestry located in Dubuque, IA, you will:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design hydraulic components that meet customer needs. This position will support CTLs (Compact Track Loaders) and SSLs (Skid Steer Loaders).
- Lead design and specification development for hydraulic components in new product programs and contribute to design standards and documentation.
- Support early-stage concept development through the integrated systems delivery process.
- Ensure designs meet performance, durability, cost, and schedule targets, and support validation activities including builds, testing, field evaluations and production launches

What Skills You Need
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within cross-functional and culturally diverse teams.
- Experience using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar modeling software to develop and evaluate design solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical data, evaluate alternatives, and make data-driven decisions to solve complex engineering challenges.
- Foundational knowledge in hydraulic design, analysis, testing, or quality.
- Familiarity with general product development methodologies.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience troubleshooting vehicle hydraulic systems through practical work experience or internships.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic component manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with off-road equipment in Construction, Forestry, or Ag industries.
- Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with teams such as Product Validation & Verification, FEA, or Manufacturing.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with engineering workflow tools such as PDMLink and SAP.
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
