The Inspection Technology Leader provides technical leadership and support for the factory across all components, processes, and machines. Additionally, the Technical Leader will coach/guide/mentor/train Inspection Programming Technology team members as well as other Manufacturing and Quality Engineers across the factory.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and direction for the Inspection Programming Technology team across CMM, structured light, CT and other programming technologies.
- Establish and standardize best practices for inspection programming, including CMM, structured light, CT, PC-DMIS, Zeiss Inspect, SPEC, and related inspection applications to increase consistency, capability, efficiency, and alignment with factory priorities..
- Own the inspection programming technology roadmap supporting manufacturing inspection processes and broader factory initiatives.
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute manufacturing and inspection technology development projects.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend new inspection and metrology technologies that improve inspection capability, product quality, producibility, and cost.
- Provide metrology best-practice guidance and technical support to manufacturing and quality engineering teams.
- Support cross-functional process and product improvement projects in partnership with operations, engineering, supply chain, quality, and product industrialization teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve calibration, metrology, inspection, programming, and quality issues in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.
- Plan, perform, and document capability studies and gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies.
- Conduct root cause analysis and lead cross-functional resolution of technical and quality issues.
- Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with minimum of 4 years of equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 8 additional years of experience in Inspection Technology programming
- Minimum of 5 years of experience programming with PC-DMIS
- Ability and desire to work on site in a manufacturing environment
- This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Advanced knowledge of PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Inspect
- Strong metrology experience, including CMM, structured/Blue Light, vision systems, laser scanning, layout inspection, hand gauges, X-ray, and CT inspection.
- Knowledge of statistical process control, process variation, QMS, quality methods, and related quality systems.
- GDTP Y14.5-2009 or Y14.5M-1994 ASME certification, with demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Prior experience as a metrologist or in a manufacturing metrology role.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and on-machine Renishaw probing routines.
- Ability to evaluate and implement new technologies aligned with business objectives.
- Strong project leadership skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects to completion.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ownership, sound decision-making, change management, and interpersonal effectiveness.
