Veterinary Technician, Oncology 
Location: Fort Wayne, IN 
Schedule: Full Time | 36-40 Hours Per Week | 1st Shift | Monday Through Friday  
Compensation: $21-26/hr, Dependent On Experience | Higher Wages Available For Candidates With VTS Credentials

In  your day-to-day, you will: 

  • Work closely with Board-Certified Oncologists to manage complex cases and administer life-saving treatments 

  • Understand the safety protocols for safe administration of chemotherapy. 

  • Set up chemotherapy procedures, and perform chemotherapy administration. 

  • Assist in facilitation of imaging and sedation for minor medical procedures. 

  • Retrieve and prepare medical records in advance of patient visits.  

  • Acquire complete medical history and assist with treatment recommendations provided by Oncologist. 

  • Perform all types of venipuncture for all types of blood work and carry out treatment orders to patients.  

  • Complete estimates, basic record keeping, and update patient charges 

  • Other duties as needed 

What You Bring: 

  • Veterinary Technician License (LVT, CVT, or RVT) is required 

  • Foundational veterinary knowledge, including patient restraint, triage, imaging, laboratory skills, and venipuncture.  

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.  

  • Attention to detail and the ability to stay calm and organized under pressure.  

  • Provide excellent customer service and interact with clients in a manner that supports NIVES mission to provide the highest quality veterinary specialty and emergency medicine for small animals. 

  • Work with fellow team members to maintain a productive, positive and respectful environment. All technical staff, regardless of the level of experience, must be able to stand, bend, lift, and/or kneel for the duration of a shift (12 hours), and lift a minimum of twenty five pounds.  

  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
