Commercial HVAC Estimator/Project Manager

An established locally owned commercial mechanical contractor is looking for an estimator/project manager for our Eastern NC territory. Our expertise includes comprehensive maintenance, diagnostics, mechanical projects, and delivering exceptional customer service through innovative solutions and an experienced team.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and relationship-oriented Commercial HVAC Estimator/Project Manager to manage mid-range commercial projects (up to $1M) from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will leverage their field experience and technical expertise to estimate, plan, and execute HVAC projects while building strong relationships with general contractors, engineers, and business owners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Estimation & Bidding:
• Prepare accurate estimates for plan-and-spec bid work and local retrofits/replacements.
• Interpret blueprints, duct designs, and equipment specifications to ensure precise project planning.
• Write detailed “scope of work” descriptions and gather equipment/material submittals.
• Project Management:
• Coordinate job setup, including determining manpower, material procurement, and scheduling.
• Oversee secured projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Manage AIA payment forms and other administrative tasks related to project execution.
• Relationship Development:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, business owners, and engineers.
• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Team Support:
• Collaborate with and support the installation team to ensure project delivery aligns with initial bids.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to field staff and address on-site challenges effectively.
• Quality Assurance:
• Conduct on-site visits to monitor project progress and ensure adherence to quality and schedule requirements.
• Address any project discrepancies or issues promptly to maintain client satisfaction.

Requirements

• Proven field experience in HVAC installation, diagnostics, and project execution.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork design, and equipment specifications.
• Familiarity with interpreting blueprints and preparing estimates for commercial HVAC projects.
• Experience with AIA payment forms and knowledge of construction documentation standards.
• Exceptional multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Proficient in project management tools, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience managing mid-range commercial projects (up to $1M).
• Knowledge of local HVAC codes and regulations.
• Background in both desk work and fieldwork, with the ability to transition seamlessly between the two.
