Business Intelligence Analyst

Summary

As a member of Information Technology, the Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for data reporting. Primary responsibilities include writing reports, dashboards, creating data sets, executing test plans and creating reporting documentation. Responsibilities 

● Create, design and execute dashboards/data visualizations and operational reporting using the campus software reporting tools. Including but not limited to WebFOCUS and SQL Developer
● Plan, create and support self-service data tools
● Document reporting specifications
● Prepare and execute test plans
● Review/understand university processes/procedures and make recommendations for improvements
● Provide occasional support outside of regular business operating hours including evenings and weekends.
● Maintain university data dictionary
● Prioritize work in line with institutional expectations
● Work independently and as part of a team
● Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives
● Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work
● Other duties as assigned

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

● Bachelor’s degree in business/data analytics, computer science, management information systems or technically related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired

Required Experience

● Demonstrated professional experience using a query based reporting tool to create reports and dashboards (e.g. WebFOCUS or Tableau)
● Demonstrated professional experience and understanding of complex table joins and database query languages

Desirable Education and/or Experience

● Experience in an academic environment
● Experience using Oracle, Ellucian Banner, and/or Information Builders WebFOCUS
● Experience with data governance

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
