(Senior) Commodity Accountant d/f/m

This role involves overseeing the commodity accounting closing process for individual trading desks and collaborating extensively with Controlling / Risk and other accounting teams.</p> <p> </p> <p><b>About the role</b><br/> You will be pivotal in reconciling IAS financials with internal performance reporting, with a strong focus on the gross margin:</p> <ul> <li>Facilitate the Commodity Accounting closing process, ensuring smooth month / quarter / year-end procedures and drive continuous process improvements.</li> <li>Reconcile performance reporting (full fair value view) to IFRS and local standards while maintaining accuracy and compliance.</li> <li>Post unrealized derivatives and accruals for realized transactions.</li> <li>Collaborate with the Accounting Data team to enhance transparency and consistency across data streams and support the development of automated processes.</li> <li>Analyse accounting data to identify process or system-related issues, providing transparency to management.</li> <li>Provide support for accounting-related projects.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><b>Job requirements and experience</b></p> <ul> <li>Hold a degree in accounting, finance or a related field.</li> <li>Qualified accountant (ACA/ ACMA/ ACCA) preferably with audit background and 5 years post qualified experience.</li> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with complex data (e.g., SQL). Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Access.</li> <li>In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and German accounting standards (HGB).</li> <li>Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.</li> <li>Demonstrated commitment, initiative, and ability to work well within a team.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><b>Advantageous, but not essential</b></p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with S/4HANA.</li> <li>Experience in the field of commodity trading.</li> <li>Experience in the field of risk management and valuation or controlling.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>What we value most is passion, willingness to learn and a determined and resilient work ethic.
