The FWN and ASPEX Central Stores Manager is a Maintenance partner that leads a medium size (8 to 10 associates) group of Central Stores Technicians, across three shifts across and two plants (FWN and ASPEX), to meet customer service and inventory accuracy goals. The scope of the position includes all aspects (system-based and physical) related to the purchasing, receiving, putting away, picking, cycle counting and general maintenance of inventory for FWN and ASPEX manufacturing. The Central Stores Manager provides leadership and direction to the department as well as oversight of day-to-day activities. The successful candidate will ensure equipment and processes are operating, maintained, and improved to meet production, maintenance, quality, and compliance requirements. They will proactively manage Reorder Points (ROPs) and Economic Order Quantities (EOQs) to ensure continued supply of materials for just-in-time usage, while maintaining effective budget management strategies with internal customers. The Manager will improve inventory accuracy through an effective cycle count program and continuous improvement activities. They will establish a safety culture and lead safety initiatives.
What You Will Do
- Partner with Maintenance to better understand each other’s operations and support needs
- Build upon existing relationships with stakeholders to improve customer service levels and Central Stores’ impact to bottom lines.
- Plan, organize and provide supervision/oversight for daily Central Stores’ operations.
- Ensure stores operations’ meets Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implement best practices.
- Drive inventory accuracy to 98% through continuous improvement activities.
- Provide input into the development of the operating budget for Engineering Services, Critical Systems, Production Maintenance, and other key stakeholders.
- Order materials, supplies, and spare parts to support business needs.
- Create SAP purchase orders for controlled items, perform goods receipts, validate invoicing, and submit tickets for problem resolutions (when needed)
- Work with Quality Assurance Material Inspection (QAMI) and warehouse staff to track, organize and quickly move controlled items through the inspection process.
- Periodically review inventory with stakeholders to determine shifts in material usages, cost center changes, and service level needs
- Proactively manage ROPs and EOQs to support business needs
- Work with stakeholders to reduce unnecessary spot buys
- Lead continuous improvement projects (including capital driven initiatives), provide guidance and oversight for upgrades and improvements, and negotiate vendor pricing
- Report out at governance meetings and represent Central Stores at tier board meetings.
- Ensure all work conforms to current Good Manufacturing Practices and meets all Standard Operating Procedures.
- Participate in the selection and development of Central Stores’ staff, create yearly objectives, provide regular feedback on those objectives, and take disciplinary action when required.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+1 yr)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
