As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on wide-ranging litigation matters. Primary responsibilities would include managing and responding to various phases of first-party discovery, and reviewing and coordinating responses to third-party process received in connection with state and federal court matters pending nationwide, as well as from regulatory and governmental agencies.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide litigation support to attorneys, such as factual investigation, document collection, research, review, organization and production, and assistance with special ad hoc projects
  • Consult with in-house attorneys concerning scope of lawsuits, arbitrations or disputes, understand all case-specific needs, assist attorneys with appropriate discovery-related tasks and adhere to eDiscovery protocols and procedures
  • Respond to third-party legal and regulatory process including subpoenas, IRS summons, restraining notices, bankruptcies, inquiries, verifications, authorizations, garnishments and writs of executions. This involves identifying and collecting documents from various business areas, preparing written responses to the requests and interacting with attorneys or legal staff making the requests
  • Serve as conduit for non-Law Department matters to appropriate business areas; respond to requests and inquiries from Law Department personnel and outside clients; prepare and provide a variety of reports to Department personnel and other business units; and oversee tasks delegated to administrative assistants

The base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
  • 1 year of experience working in a law firm or corporate law department
  • Experience managing discovery, document collection and review process, including fact investigation, document collection, review and production.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years of litigation related paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate law department
