About the role

As the leader of St. Vincent de Paul's ("SVDP") first upscale resale shop, the Boutique Store Manager pioneers a unique retail experience that combines high-quality merchandise, elevated customer service, and mission-driven impact for the Baton Rouge Community. This position serves as the principal ambassador of SVDP's values within a boutique environment, setting the tome for a polished, hospitable, and ministry-oriented shopping experience that differentiates the store from traditional thrift operations.
The Manager oversees all aspects of boutique operations, including curated merchandising, pricing strategy, events, and donor relations, with a strong focus on revenue generation to sustain SVDP's charitable initiatives. This role provides hands-on leadership and development for staff and volunteers, ensuring they are trained to deliver exceptional service consistent with an upscale resale brand and SVDP's mission of serving those in need.
The Boutique Store Manager maintains exemplary visual presentation, inventory management, and operational standards, while cultivating a professional, collaborative workplace culture aligned with the organization's Catholic values. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Retail Operations, this position leads the boutique retail team in implementing innovative sales and marketing strategies that grow the customer base, deepen community engagement, and advance SVDP's mission of service.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education, Experience & Certifications
◦ High School Diploma or equivalent as required; Associated degree or greater in Retail Management, Marketing, or related field preferred
◦ Five plus years of managerial or supervisory role, preferably in a boutique or specialty retail environment
◦ Must have a valid driver's license
◦ Marketing experience and event planning strongly preferred
◦ Bilingual a plus
B. Other Qualifications
◦ Experience in retail management point-of-sale systems, Microsoft Office and Google applications
◦ Possess sufficient reading comprehension abilities to understand and implement established operational procedures
◦ Demonstrate excellent math and computer technology skills
◦ Ability to lead through consistent interpretation and implementation of established and introductory store operations, processes, and procedures
◦ Ability to effectively communicate and maintain professional relationships with internal teams, as well as customers and donors
◦ Competence in utilizing merchandise tagging devices and inventory control systems
◦ Functional knowledge of barcode scanning equipment and label generation tools
◦ Adaptable in position responsibilities and willingness to undertake additional tasks as required
◦ Respect for the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church and the mission of St. Vincent de Paul
C. Physical Demands
◦ Stand and walk for extended period of up to eight (8) hours with appropriate breaks
◦ Utilize hands and arms for reaching, handling, and manipulating objects
◦ Maintain ability to communicate, hear and see effectively for extended periods
◦ Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
◦ Safely navigate ladders, steps, stairways while maneuvering merchandise
◦ Life and move items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds on occasional basis unassisted
◦ Life and move items weighing up to fifty plus (50+) pounds on an occasional basis with assistance
D. Working Environment
◦ Primary work environment includes both climate controlled and non-climate-controlled warehouse and retail settings
◦ Position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs dictate
◦ Periodic exposure to outdoor weather conditions may be required
◦ May infrequently require work in elevated locations
◦ Periodic exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens

◦ Establish and communicate clear daily sales objective while providing necessary support to enable team and individual achievement of these goals
◦ Ensure consistent communication and adherence to organization policies and procedures; conduct thorough orientation for new team members with clearly defined performance expectations
◦ Conduct systematic performance evaluations to identify development opportunities; provide appropriate coaching and disciplinary actions as required; implement targeted skills training to address performance gaps
