Field Access Specialist FRM Rare Portfolio Southeast

The Rare Disease Field Access Specialist is a non-promotional, field-based commercial role that supports patient access to specified products in the Rare Disease Portfolio when prescribed by a patient’s physician.  The FAS is a subject-matter expert on reimbursement, access, and coverage issues within an assigned geographical territory.  The FAS proactively engages with HCPs and their staff on Hub-enrolled cases around matters relating to reimbursement, access and coverage to assist patients with access to their prescribed medication. The FAS will serve as the field-based point of contact for HCP offices regarding the status of individual patients seeking access or reimbursement support through Pfizer Hubs (e.g., VyndaLink, Pfizer Bridge, Pfizer Gene Together, IGuide). 

This individual will report directly to the Access & Reimbursement Regional Director. The Field Access Specialist will perform their duties while adhering to all Pfizer policies and compliance standards. 

It will be this colleague’s role and responsibility to:

• Be the field-based point-of-contact with HCPs/office staff for access-related communication relating to patients prescribed products in the Rare Disease Portfolio and enrolled in the Hub, including helping to resolve reimbursement and coverage questions;
• Provide education to HCPs/office staff regarding local/regional payer landscape, payer coverage and formulary change updates, payer policies (e.g., prior authorization, step edits, specialty pharmacy coverage), Hub activities, and patient support and financial assistance offerings;
• Coordinate as appropriate with other Pfizer colleagues and Pfizer Hubs;
• Maintain a detailed understanding of the patient access journey within distribution channels, requirements at each stage, keeping abreast of regional/provider changes in access requirements and inform any changes to appropriate internal stakeholders;
• Provide HCPs with information on how patients may apply to the Pfizer PAP, and direct to the appropriate Hub for further information;
• Provide HCPs with information on how patients may enroll in Pfizer copay programs, and direct to the appropriate hub for further information;
• Understand the defined distribution network;
• Utilize Polaris to compliantly support patient access, including compliant case notes;
• Work cross functionally with Patient Access Colleagues and Hub Associates to improve the patient access journey

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• BS or BA Degree is required
• Minimum 7-10 years pharmaceutical industry experience typically within the fields of pharmaceutical sales and/or access and reimbursement. 
• Must be in a promoted role or in a position of cross-functional leadership for a minimum of two years
• This individual must also have demonstrated leadership and success at working across internal boundaries and be able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to coordinate various unique objectives.
• Understanding of medical billing or insurance claim management, within the Pharmaceutical/ Biopharmaceutical sectors, Provider/Carrier Networks, or Government Agencies preferred
• Strong understanding of Rare Disease Reimbursement, Government Payment Systems, Provider/Carrier Networks, Co-Pay Assistance Programs, and knowledge of the Rare Dise
