What you'll be doing
- Develop, create, and modify computer applications software.
- Scratch-build a highly scalable, available, fault-tolerant data processing systems using AWS, GCP cloud technologies, HDFS, YARN, Map-Reduce, Hive, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, Flink, Trino, Snowflake, and other big data technologies. These systems should handle batch and real-time data processing over 10s of terabytes of data ingested every day and petabyte-sized data warehouse.
- Build quality data solutions and refine existing diverse datasets into simplified models encouraging self-service.
- Build data pipelines that perfect data quality and are resilient to inadequate data sources.
- Partner with upstream teams to build test automation for data logging.
- Define scalable schema design and custom validators for both offline and online data validations.
- Design and develop data governance and data validation tools, frameworks, and infrastructure.
- Build a high throughput online validation framework to minimize "bad" data flowing downstream that can handle millions of events per minute.
- Support downstream teams with data quality discovery and resolution.
- Build data discovery frameworks that help with an accurate lineage of data elements and metrics. Low level systems debugging, performance measurement & optimization on large production clusters.
- Participate in architecture discussions, influence product roadmap, and take ownership and responsibility over new projects.
- Maintain and support existing platforms and evolve to newer technology stacks and architectures.
Up to two days per week telecommuting may be permitted.
You are required to have
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of progressive experience as a Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or related occupation.
- Will also accept Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or related occupation.
- Must have at least 1 year of prior work experience in each of the following:
- SQL coding.
- Object-oriented software development using Python, Java, and Scala.
- Working with large-scale, high-throughput, and multi-tenant distributed systems using the following Big Data technologies: Spark, HDFS, YARN, Hive, Kafka, Flink, Airflow, ElasticSearch, Looker, and Presto.
- Designing and building real-time data pipelines and online validation frameworks capable of handling millions of events per minute.
- Solving large-scale data quality problems.
- Data contracts, data validation frameworks & tools, data governance tool Datahub or Alation.
- Data access controls, data privacy implementation, and data security standards.
- Cloud Technologies AWS, GCP, and Snowflake.
- Kubernetes-based deployments, Spark on Kubernetes, and Airflow on Kubernetes.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams of developers, analysts, and operations to execute deliverables.
The annual salary for this position for Texas only is between $301,750 - $318,750
Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.
