Job Description
This position’s primary responsibility is focused on improving the quality of supplied components and raw material, addressing Bosch & legal requirements for supplied material, and working with Production to overcome immediate supplier quality issues. The position will also have commercial responsibilities for select suppliers.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supplier Quality Responsibilities:
- Manage supplier audit program and perform process audits at supplier’s facilities.
- Responsible for the qualification and approval of new or changed purchased parts: PPAP (or ISIR) process.
- Works in cooperation with corresponding commodity manager to qualify and release new suppliers and new processes at the supplier’s facilities.
- Supports ECR engineering meetings and works directly with engineering during development of new parts.
- Responsible for monitoring supplier quality issues from line rejects and field returns.
- Tracking of supplier performance and measure key indicators
- Assure that Corrective and Preventive Action plans are developed and executed at assigned suppliers.
- Responsible for inspection of suspicious product from incoming inspections and coordination of quarantine campaigns in collaboration with Logistics.
- Participates in MRB meetings to review and address all supplier quality claims.
- Supports other departments coordinating special quality investigations with the suppliers.
- Responsible for tracking credits due to non-conforming material and coordinating material returns.
- Reporting supplier quality status and ongoing activities during monthly quality meetings.
- Assists in the implementation of CDQs and TT-VANs. (Bosch guidelines)
- Provides support to suppliers by coaching them into the use of quality tools (8D, Ishikawa, Corrective actions, etc)
- Attends daily production meetings and addresses any supplier quality issues as they are reported by Manufacturing.
Commercial Responsibilities:
- Liaison between FHP and the supply base on commercial topics for assigned commodities.
- Report performance of material cost targets for assigned commodities.
- Serve as escalation point for material planners on delivery issues.
- Ensure compliance of purchasing procedures for assigned commodities
- Lead supplier change process for assigned commodities focusing on risk reduction, cost, and perfect quality.
- General maintenance activities with suppliers (i.e. invoice reconciliation)
- Conduct market research for assigned commodities to discover better value, long-term suppliers as well as to discover alternate, temporary suppliers in the event of a supply shortage with incumbent supplier.
Other Workplace Consideration:
- Willing to travel ~20% (domestic and international)
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Quality or Engineering
- 3+ years of supplier quality experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supplier quality experience.
- Manufacturing experience.
- Buyer experience.
- CQE experience.
- Commercial buyer experience, including negotiations.
- Organized and excellent communications skills.
- PC literate.
