Position Overview

Medical Assistants at Premier Pain Solutions are an integral part of our healthcare team. Working alongside providers and other clinical staff, the Medical Assistant’s primary role is to provide outstanding support and assistance with the care of our patients and to ensure the smooth operation of our pain management clinic.  The Medical Assistant is responsible for both administrative and clinical tasks, making every day on the job dynamic and engaging.


Responsibilities for Medical Assistants Include:

· Prepare patients for examination, take vitals, and record patients’ health histories into the EMR system, eClinicalWorks

· Pre-chart for future appointments (i.e. determine if tests/labs are complete and pulled into EMR, notate patients due for UDSs)

· Manage equipment and exam rooms by ensuring they are cleaned/sanitized and stocked with appropriate supplies 

· Assist providers with medical treatments, procedures, and exams

· Queue medications for providers to review/send to pharmacies

· Respond timely to telephone encounters, messages, etc.

· Collect and prepare UDSs for lab testing to include packaging for shipment to the internal laboratory for testing

· Assist in the administration of injections and medications and perform routine specimen collection and tests

· Perform pill counts for patients who have been prescribed pain medications


Qualifications for Medical Assistant:

· High school diploma or GED 

· Certification (CMA or CCMA) 

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, clinic staff, and external parties in a courteous and friendly manner

· Highly organized with an acute attention to detail

· Possess a thorough understanding of and adherence to medical practices, administrative processes, health information privacy requirements, confidentiality, and organizational policies

· Demonstrated knowledge and application of patient care and examination procedures
