What You Will Do:
The Patient Access Lead assists the Patient Access Supervisor with the overall operations of the Patient Access Department. This includes but not limited to pre-registrations, registrations, admissions, insurance verification, POS collections, financial counseling, training and regulatory compliance. This position will work in harmony with clinical staff to ensure each patient is given the highest level of customer service and every staff member is treated with the utmost respect.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Registration - Accurate collection of demographic data and explanation of required documents to patients at the time of registration.
Collection and Insurance – Accurate documentation of insurance information.
Assists patients with explanation and collection of co-payments and self-pay deposits.
Maintains a positive working environment and high morale that reflects the philosophy of the service area and Community Memorial Hospital.
Oversees operations in the absence of Department Supervisor.
Demonstrates a positive attitude and serves as a role model for staff.
Works closely with the Department Supervisor in the following areas:
Daily monitoring of all admissions and registration to assure all forms are signed and all insurance have been verified and authorized, and all demographics information is completed.
Assists with training of all newly hired employees.
Assists with the administration of the department, for the purpose of reports, documentation, payroll records, statistical requirements, and other data required.
Meets with patients to resolve questions regarding their billing statements. Provides financial counseling and assist patients with payment options.
Assist with account reconciliation and merges.
Assist with patient escalations. Support frontline operations as needed (e.g. staff shortages).
Assist Supervisor with frontline staff assignments/station assignments.
Support varied shifts as needed.
What You Will Need:
High school diploma or equivalent
3-5 years prior healthcare with Health Insurance Programs and eligibility and/or state and federal financial assistance
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Knowledge of medical terminology
Three (3) years patient access experience in a hospital setting
*Hours: Monday through Friday, holidays and weekends may required. Hours will be 10am to 7pm or as needed.
